Kyoto, the former capital city of Japan for more than a thousand years, has always been in the center of Japan’s history. The rich culture of ‘Miyabi’ (Japanese ‘beauty’ and ‘elegance’), temples, shrines and historical remains, have captured the heart of people from all over the world.
Within this city full of history, the west part of Kyoto called ‘Arashiyama’ (嵐山), also known as Sagano (嵯峨野), is one of the popular tourist spot in Kyoto. From the landmark of Arashiyama, ‘Togetsu-kyo bridge’ (渡月橋), lies the horizon of beautiful nature. Further more, ‘Tenryuji temple’ (天龍寺) – the World Cultural Heritage, Arashiyama Monkey Park which has more than 140 Japanese monkeys, another major landmark – ‘Bamboo forest’, and many famous restaurants and popular kiosk stores.
Arashiyama is also extremely popular during spring and autumn, as the sakura and maple leaves viewing spot.
