撮影：2015summer JAPAN 盆地でもある京都の夏は、その暑さが大変。でも、夏にしか味わえない京都の顔を紹介。夏の代表の顔が夜空を彩る「五山送り火」。 祇園祭とともに京都の夏を代表する行事の一 つ。 また夏の風物詩といえば鴨川納涼床は河原にせり出した特設の座敷で、川の流れと川風に涼みながら味わう。嵐山のお盆行事が灯篭流し、さらに広沢池でも一面に五色の流し灯籠を水に浮かべ鳥居 形の送り火とのコントラストはまさしく幽玄の世界そのものである。
Kyoto summer night festival
Japan’s unique Obon Festival, an ancient religious rite to honour the souls of one’s ancestors, is held throughout Kyoto.
「Gozan no Okuribi」 is one of the most famous events in Kyoto.
In this event, kanji characters are marked on the mountain side and illuminated by fire. This ceremony brings autumn to Kyoto.
Summer is very hot in Kyoto. Therefore, since olden times, Kyoto people have devised cool ways to lessen the intense summer heat. Some eating and drinking establishments near the river entertain their guests on these terraces, which resemble balconies overhanging the river.
