2017年8月2日、長岡花火大会から中越地震、東日本大震災、熊本大地震等の復興を祈願して打ち上げられた同花火大会最大の見せ場、超ワイド音楽付スターマイン”フェニックス”の映像です。
会場から約8km離れた山の上から、長岡の美しい夜景と絡めて、日本一美しいと言われている南北2kmにも及ぶ超ワイドな花火のショーを５分間フルで撮影しました。
“世界中の全ての爆弾が花火に変わったら…”、そんな世界平和への願いも込められたこのプログラム”フェニックス”は、見ていると涙が出てくるくらい感動します。
この映像で、その感動の数パーセントでも、みなさんに伝える事ができたら幸いです。

昨年や一昨年と比べると、今年は2日間ともカラっと晴れて、遠くの山の上からも打ち上げ会場がくっきりと見える程、空気が澄んていました。
ただ、風が微風の向い風で煙がとどまり、一日目の撮影は悲しい結果となりました。しかし、何故かフェニックスの時だけは煙が薄くなり、あの素晴らしいショーを十分楽しむことが出来ました。
このプログラムは、何か神がかっていたような気もします。
毎年、ほぼ同じプログラム(フェニックス)を見ているのに、毎回見るたびに胸が熱くジーンとしてしまうのはなぜでしょうか？
花火終了後30分後に別途撮影した夜景写真と合成する事で、人間の目が捉えた絵により近い夜景＋花火の映像を創る事ができました。

The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival is known as the best and the most beautiful Fireworks Festival in Japan ( even in the world ) for many people.
This awesome show is praying for this region(Niigata)’s reconstruction from Niigata Chuuetsu Earthquake in 2004, Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake.
This show is also expressing the world peace and wish to change all bombs in the world into these fireworks.
Nagaoka fireworks festival (especially this Phoenix display) attracts thousands of people not only because of this huge scale and the impressive quality of the show, but also it is representing a prayer for peace in the world.
This breathtaking Phoenix show actually made me cry and hope more people to feel and have the same experience what I had there through watching this movie.
I was shooting this movie from a mountain about 5 miles away to capture the wonderful fireworks show as well as the beautiful Nagaoka’s city lights.
It is almost impossible to capture both fireworks and city lights at the same time, because of the difference of its luminance level. So I shot movie of the fireworks first, then an hours later shot HDR still image of the city lights and blended the movie and the picture via After Effects, as I did in the following movies.
